Youth Violence Prevention

Our Youth Resilience Liaisons focus on supporting at-risk students by addressing their basic needs at home and helping them engage with school and community programs that promote positive behavior and success. We aim to create school environments where every student feels connected to a trusted adult who listens to their needs and links them to helpful resources.

We work collaboratively with city organizations and community groups to aid in preventing violence from affecting schools and ensure students and families receive ongoing support. Our partnerships include organizations like the Mayor's Youth Violence Prevention Action Table, Denver Children's Advocacy Center, and Denver Health, among others.

Through these efforts, we provide school leadership with tools and resources to promote student health and wellness while extending support beyond the school into the community to help families heal and thrive.

In partnership with the City and County of Denver and the Denver Youth Violence Prevention Action Table's 2023 Strategic Plan, DPS created a team of specialists who will utilize a collaborative approach with school staff and community organizations in order to address the needs of adversely effected students & families across our Denver communities.

Mission Statement

Our team of Youth Resilience Liaisons take tangible action by meeting the day-to-day needs of at-risk students starting with the basic needs in the home, then working to increase their engagement with school and community based programming designed to support positive behavior & engagement.

We seek to create school cultures where youth feel connected to a trusted adult who can talk to them about what is happening and what they need and connect them with the right resources and supports.
